LAFAYETTE, La. – Excitement is building as the Louisiana high school football playoff brackets have finally been released. Originally, the brackets faced delays due to ongoing legal issues involving the LHSAA and University High School. A temporary restraining order filed on behalf of University High has reinstated seven wins to their season record, pending the resolution of the conflict.
In total, 38 local area teams will be competing in the postseason, showcasing the talent and determination present in high school football across the state. Notably, Vermilion Catholic has claimed the top spot as the number one seed in Division IV Select, setting the stage for what hopes to be a thrilling playoff journey.
Several teams have received first-round byes, allowing them to advance directly to the next stage. In Division II Non-Select, the #3 seed Jennings received a bye, while Division III Non-Select’s #2 seed Erath and Division IV Non-Select’s #4 seed Jeanerette also earned this advantage. Other notable teams enjoying bye weeks include Acadiana (#3), Teurlings (#6), and St. Thomas More (#8) in Division I Select, as well as several others from Division III and IV Select.
