NFL Fines Nick Bosa $11,255 for Trump Hat Incident During Postgame Interview

San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa has been fined by the NFL for wearing a hat that expressed support for former President Donald Trump during a postgame interview. Bosa received a penalty of $11,255 for breaching the NFL’s uniform and equipment rules, which prohibit players from showing personal messages during televised appearances. This incident occurred after the 49ers’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys on October 27.

Bosa interrupted a live interview featuring teammate quarterback Brock Purdy on NBC and displayed a white hat with the words “Make America Great Again.” The league’s policy clearly states that players cannot wear or show personal messages while visible to audiences during game-day operations, including during pregame warm-ups and postgame interviews.

Bosa, who recently signed a five-year contract extension worth $170 million, admitted he was aware of the potential consequences but felt his actions were “well worth it.”

In other league news, newly acquired pass rusher Za’Darius Smith practiced for the first time with the Detroit Lions, hoping to bolster a squad he described as “dominant.” Additionally, Nico Collins of the Houston Texans was activated from injured reserve but is still questionable for the Sunday night matchup against the Lions.

Chris Olave of the New Orleans Saints is expected to be placed on injured reserve after suffering his second concussion of the season. Meanwhile, 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is listed as questionable but is likely to play in the team’s Week 10 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan.

Trevor Lawrence, quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is hopeful to suit up for Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, while QB Will Levis is set to return for the Tennessee Titans as they face the Los Angeles Chargers.

Lastly, the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers will square off in Munich in an anticipated Week 10 showdown. Additionally, Cowboys receiver Jonathan Mingo was surprised by his trade from the Panthers to the Cowboys earlier this week.
