KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — High School Football Playoffs Begin
The regular season of high school football in Knoxville wrapped up on November 1, with teams putting everything on the line for a shot at the state championship. Now, several East Tennessee teams are gearing up for the playoffs, which officially kick off this week. Most games are set to start around 7 p.m., and the excitement will continue until early December when the final teams face each other for the title.
In the first round of the playoffs, local teams have shown impressive performances. For instance, Maryville took down William Blount with a final score of 49-24. Dobyns-Bennett also performed well, defeating Farragut 42-24. West had a dominating victory against David Crockett, as they triumphed with a score of 62-7.
Other significant matchups included Powell, who beat Tennessee with a score of 34-7, and Lenoir City, which narrowly won against Walker Valley with a score of 41-35. Anderson County had a fantastic day as they defeated Northview in a blowout, ending the game 56-7.
Additionally, Loudon bested Stone Memorial, finalizing at 33-21, while Alcoa secured their spot in the next round by defeating Pigeon Forge 56-21. In a tight game, Gatlinburg-Pittman emerged victorious against Kingston with a close score of 24-17. Finally, Grace Christian defeated Northpoint 35-28.
