Gamecocks Set for Promising Season After NCAA Tournament Return

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Gamecocks are aiming high this season after making their first NCAA Tournament appearance in seven years. Last season, the team surprised fans and experts alike by jumping from just 11 wins in Coach Lamont Paris’ first year to an impressive 26 wins, tying a school record.

The Gamecocks might have lost some key players, including their leading scorer Meechie Johnson, who transferred to Ohio State, along with fellow seniors B.J. Mack and Ta’Lon Cooper. However, they also have a handful of new talents ready to step up. Enter sophomore Collin Murray-Boyles, who returns after averaging nearly 11 points and six rebounds last season. His relentless style helped propel South Carolina to 13 SEC wins, including big victories over ranked teams like Kentucky and Tennessee.

One of the most exciting additions to the roster is freshman guard Cam Scott, a two-time state Gatorade Player of the Year and the top prospect in South Carolina. After initially signing with Texas, Scott chose the Gamecocks when he received a release. Meanwhile, Myles Stute, a senior guard transferring from Vanderbilt, also looks to increase his playing time this season.

With expectations high, the Gamecocks kick off their season on November 4 against North Florida, followed by a challenging game at Indiana on November 16. They will also host state rival Clemson on December 17. As the SEC season begins on January 4 against Mississippi State, fans are eager to see how the team performs against formidable opponents like Alabama and the reigning SEC champion, Auburn, in early January.

Coach Paris, who has been with the program for three years, recently signed a six-year contract extension through the 2029-30 season. His leadership has been pivotal in the team’s resurgence, which includes winning a game in the SEC Tournament for the first time since 2018.

As South Carolina aims to make a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament this season, every game counts, and fans are ready to support their team on this exciting journey.
