Texas High School Football Week 8 Rankings Released
As the sun sets on Week 8 of the 2024 Texas high school football season, fans can now look at the updated SportsDayHS rankings, reflecting the hard-fought battles on the gridiron. In a competitive landscape, the top teams were determined by a points system where the highest team in their respective 6A and 5A classes received 20 points, the second 19, and so forth. Class 4A teams received five points, while private schools earned 10 points.
In the 6A category, a significant shift occurred as Lancaster dropped from the No. 12 spot to No. 16 after suffering a hefty defeat to Duncanville with a score of 41-7. Conversely, Plano East made its first appearance in the rankings at No. 20 following a close 21-14 win over Prosper Rock Hill.
Meanwhile, in Class 5A, Anna continued to make waves as they secured victory against Prosper Walnut Grove with a score of 55-41. This win positions them closer to a coveted playoff spot in the highly competitive District 4-5AII. The struggles for Frisco Emerson continued as they fell to Lovejoy with a score of 48-7, dropping their ranking from No. 12 to No. 14.
On another note, Panther Creek held onto its No. 2 ranking despite a thrilling 46-44 win that required four overtimes against Lake Dallas. Kimball also maintained its spot at No. 4 with a tough win over Carter in this year’s “Oak Cliff Super Bowl.”
For private school rankings, Fort Worth All Saints has been a consistent leader since their surprising Week 1 gain over Parish Episcopal. However, a recent win by Argyle Liberty Christian over Parish Episcopal earned them the top position, while All Saints, still unbeaten, triumphed over Lubbock Trinity Christian with a score of 43-6.
In a surprising twist, Dallas First Baptist fell in the rankings after losing 34-14 to San Antonio Holy Cross. Arlington Pantego Christian, after recently entering the rankings, dropped to No. 9 after a loss to Fort Worth Lake Country Christian with a score of 21-13.
