Cincinnati High School Football Week 8 Review

This week marked Week 8 of the high school football season in Cincinnati, creating an exciting atmosphere as teams strive to secure their positions for the postseason. With the regular season nearing its conclusion, the competition among teams is heating up.

In a significant matchup, the Batavia Bulldogs faced New Richmond aiming for better standings in the Southern Buckeye Conference American Division. Meanwhile, Springboro and Fairmont met in a battle for the top of the Greater Western Ohio Conference standings. Additionally, Withrow and Aiken aimed to maintain their undefeated status in the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Red Division.

The Moeller Crusaders showcased a dominant performance with a convincing 44-0 victory over Cleveland St. Ignatius. Junior quarterback Matt Ponatoski was phenomenal, completing 11 of 14 passes for 193 yards and four touchdowns. His favorite target, Matthew Fogler, caught four passes for 112 yards and two scores.

The Hamilton Big Blue also had an impressive outing, defeating Middletown 42-7. Senior running back Gracen Goldsmith rushed for 203 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his impressive season with over 1,000 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns so far.

In another notable game, Lakota West continued their unbeaten streak with a commanding 52-7 victory over Oak Hills. With five consecutive games scoring 50 points or more, the Firebirds are putting together an impressive season.
