East Lansing, MI – The Michigan State University (MSU) women’s soccer team is enjoying an impressive season, and one player is shining brighter than the rest. Graduate goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks has been making headlines, especially after being named the NCAA Player of the Week on Wednesday. This recognition comes hot on the heels of a thrilling performance in a recent match against Penn State.
On September 22, during a hard-fought game on the road, Parks was a wall in the goal, making an impressive 11 saves to help secure a 1-0 shutout against the Nittany Lions. This strong performance brought her season total to six shutouts over just ten games, solidifying her status as a critical player for the Spartans. More than that, her contributions have helped keep MSU unbeaten with a record of 8-0-2, marking the best start in the program’s history.
Just a day before being recognized as NCAA Player of the Week, Parks also earned the title of Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week. These accolades reflect not only her talent but also the hard work and determination she brings to each match, as well as the teamwork and strategy implemented by Head Coach Jeff Hosler.
Thanks to their remarkable performance during the season, MSU is currently sitting at the No. 1 spot in the US Soccer Coaches Poll for the first time ever. The excitement continues as the Spartans prepare to take on Ohio State on September 26 in Columbus. Fans will be eagerly watching to see if Parks can continue her impressive form and help her team maintain their unbeaten streak.
The rising star of MSU women’s soccer has not only made a name for herself but is also leading the Spartans toward a historic season. The energy and anticipation for their upcoming match only add to the excitement surrounding this talented team.
