Tropical Storm Forces High School Football Teams to Reschedule Matches in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC – A tropical storm is set to impact local high school football games this Friday, prompting some teams to reschedule their matches to Thursday to avoid the expected rain and wind. As teams gear up for an exciting week of high school football, here’s a look at the complete schedule and notable matchups.

The current top team, Weddington, holds a perfect record of 3-0 and will face Butler on Friday, while #2 Northwestern, also undefeated at 3-0, is set to face South Pointe Friday evening. Other teams of interest include Independence, who currently boasts a 3-0 record and will face South Meck, while J.M. Robinson looks to maintain their momentum against Central Cabarrus with a 3-0 record as well.

Among the other games scheduled for Friday, Charlotte Catholic (1-1) will travel to Crest, and Myers Park (1-2) will take on Richmond Sr. Additionally, Fort Mill will make their way to Lancaster for a match that will showcase their impressive quarterback Quinn Kelly and a strong passing game against a struggling Lancaster team.

On the excitement front, last night’s games saw Hartsville defeat Rock Hill in an action-packed encounter, ending with a score of 49-30. The Red Foxes built a solid lead and thwarted multiple comeback attempts from Rock Hill. Meanwhile, Richland Northeast triumphed over Nation Ford in a nail-biter, finishing at 58-49, with an impressive performance from Nation Ford’s Kaleb White.

As we look forward to the weekend, Saturday will see the S.C. Spartans taking on the Greenville Hurricanes. Last weekend, the Hurricanes dominated last year’s match-up with a stunning 56-0 victory, albeit with a different roster.

With teams adjusting to the weather, fans can expect thrilling high school football action over the next few days. Kickoff times for most games are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, so be sure to catch your favorite team in action!
