Football Rankings Shake-up in New York After Week 2

New York City – The high school football season is heating up in New York, as the On3 Massey Ratings have updated their top 25 rankings following an exciting second week of action. Several teams have made significant moves, with three programs jumping into the coveted top 10. Notably, St. Francis and Canisius have secured spots in the top five as of the second weekend of September.

As the season progresses, major matchups are set to take place that could further impact the rankings. The On3 Massey Ratings is a renowned model that evaluates sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. Currently, four teams from Alabama also rank within the nationwide top 100.

This week’s highlighted games include Bergen Catholic from New Jersey visiting the top-ranked Iona Prep. After bouncing back from an opening loss with a solid 44-20 win over Springfield Central, Iona Prep faces a tough challenge against the Crusaders, who recently secured a 35-21 victory over Washington in Ohio.

Another exciting matchup features St. Joseph Regional visiting #8 Archbishop Stepinac. Stepinac is currently struggling at 0-2 and has only scored 14 points thus far. St. Joseph looks to capitalize on their recent form after a convincing 28-7 win over Seton Hall Prep.

#2 Cardinal Hayes will also be in action against DePaul Catholic after their first season win against Catholic Memorial, where quarterback Rich Belin shined with four touchdowns. Meanwhile, defending state champions Somers are set to host #22 Yorktown after surviving a close encounter against Ramapo.

Additionally, the #5 Canisius team will take on Washington in Ohio, featuring standout sophomore Elijah Kimble, who had an electrifying game last week with multiple touchdowns.
