Indiana High School Football Rankings Shift Dramatically in Class 5A and 2A

This week in Indiana, the high school football scene saw some exciting changes within the rankings, especially in Class 5A and Class 2A.

In Class 5A, Plainfield emerged as the new No. 1 team after an impressive victory over Mooresville, winning 42-0 on Friday night. The Quakers jumped four spots in the rankings thanks to this dominant performance, proving their strength with previous victories against Terre Haute South and Harrison. With a record of 3-0, they managed to edge out Valparaiso, who sits in second place with a record of 2-1 and received seven first-place votes, the highest of any team in the class. Following them is Merrillville, which dropped to third place after suffering a heavy defeat against Crown Point, losing 46-13.

In Class 2A, there’s a new leader as well, with Lafayette Central Catholic taking over after a narrow 23-21 win against Logansport. They now hold a record of 2-0 and have proven they can compete at a high level. Meanwhile, Lutheran was dethroned from the top spot and fell to fifth after their remarkable 45-game winning streak came to an end with a tight 16-13 loss to Triton Central, now ranked fourth.

As we enter Week 4, the excitement continues to build as coaches and players strive to improve their standings and claim victory on the field. This season is shaping up to be quite competitive, with teams fighting hard for the top spots in their respective classes.

The complete Indiana poll will follow based on Win-Loss records, points, and previous rankings, as teams gear up for what promises to be an intense continuation of the season.
