New Jersey School Implements New Safety Protocols Following Football Game Shooting

New Jersey School Implements Safety Measures After Football Game Shooting

Wayne, New Jersey – The atmosphere at Friday night football games in Wayne will be different this season as Passaic County Technical Institute has put new safety measures into place. This comes in response to an unfortunate incident that occurred during a recent game where a shooting left two teenagers injured.

Following the shooting on August 30, which happened as the game was coming to an end, the school has taken significant steps to enhance security and ensure the safety of all attendees. Starting with the upcoming games, tickets will only be available online through a secure site. This change aims to streamline entry and reduce the risks that come with large crowds. Additionally, the gates for entry will close at halftime, preventing late arrivals from coming in after the game has started.

The new rules also include a no loitering policy in the parking lot during games. These measures are designed to discourage any unsupervised gatherings that could potentially lead to unsafe situations. Increased police presence will be seen around the stadium to maintain order and address any concerns.

Other important changes include a strict no bag policy and a ban on the use of coverings. These restrictions are part of a wider effort to ensure safety during events. Thankfully, both victims of the shooting have been released from the hospital and are recovering.

PCTI, the largest career and technical high school in New Jersey, is returning to in-person classes, and school officials are collaborating with local law enforcement to review security protocols for future events. Dan DiGuglielmo, a school official, expressed the sentiment many are feeling: “It’s good they’re gonna do these safety measures, but it’s a shame we have to implement something like that.”

As the football season approaches, schools in the area are prioritizing safety and putting the well-being of students and families first.
