Idaho High School Football Week 1 Rankings See New Challengers Emerge

Boise, Idaho — The first full week of high school football in Idaho has brought some exciting changes in the latest state media poll, released on Tuesday. While the top-ranked teams in each classification held their positions, several new challengers have emerged.

In the 4A division, Buhl joins the top five after making a strong impression early in the season. In the 2A rankings, Raft River has made its debut as well. Furthermore, Pocatello has cracked the top five after a thrilling 29-23 victory over Skyview, marking a successful start for the team’s season.

Looking ahead to Friday’s matchups, there’s a highly anticipated game in the 5A classification as defending state champion Bishop Kelly takes on Minico, currently ranked fourth. Minico has steadily climbed the ranks after securing back-to-back wins against their rivals, signaling they are not to be underestimated.

In the 6A rankings, powerhouses Rocky Mountain and Eagle are holding steady at second and third place, respectively. Both teams had impressive season openers last weekend: Rocky Mountain dominated Kuna with a score of 53-14, while Eagle defeated Meridian 28-13.

The early season rankings for each classification, as voted on by sports reporters across Idaho, reflect the competitive spirit of high school football in the Gem State. Each team’s position includes their win-loss record, points accumulated, and previous ranking.
