2024 Tennessee High School Football Season: First Statewide Rankings Released

As the 2024 Tennessee high school football season begins, excitement is building across the state. The USA TODAY Sports Network has officially released its first statewide rankings, giving fans a glimpse into which teams are making waves this year.

In Division I, South Pittsburg is leading the pack with six first-place votes for a total of 96 points. Hot on their heels, McKenzie secured four first-place votes, ending up with 93 points. Dresden and Union City followed, ranking third with 66 points and fourth with 49 points, respectively. The competition remains close, especially for the fifth place, where Oliver Springs holds 48 points. Notably, Coalfield and Gordonsville are tied for sixth with 47 points each.

In Division II, Alcoa is showing a strong performance, topping the rankings with a perfect 100 points, having received ten first-place votes. East Nashville trails with 83 points, while Dyersburg is not far behind at 79 points. The competition is tight for the remaining spots, with Covington and Giles County claiming the fourth and fifth positions with 69 points and 67 points respectively.

When it comes to the top five teams in various classes, East Robertson stands out in the Middle region with a strong points total of 96. Riverside is also a contender, rounding out the top three with 85 points. In Private Schools, Pearl-Cohn leads the charge with 100 points, showcasing their dominance on the field.
