Draft Reaction: Jacksonville selects WR Justin Blackmon

The Jacksonville Jaguars traded up for Justin Blackmon.  And need is not the best evaulator of talent.

In this draft that’s fairly limited in terms of top-of-the-draft stars, this is a pretty defensible move to get out of that dreaded 7th spot.  So props to Jacksonville for that. And for just a 4th round pick.  However, Morris Claiborne may have been the better pick here.  It just happens that wide receiver is such a critical need for the Jaguars.

Justin Blackmon was in my estimation the top wide receiver in this year’s NFL draft.  And for that, it’s hard to fault the process all that much.  I just feel that 1) Michael Floyd would not have been all that much of a reach at no. 7, and 2) this is a ways to go up for Blackmon, although the price was hardly exorbitant.
