Draft Reaction: Buffalo selects CB Stephon Gilmore

The Bills needed to get some help to Dave Wannestedt’s defense.  And things didn’t exactly fall the ways they would have predicted.  And they were left with some options that weren’t as perfect as they were hoping for.

Stephon Gilmore may have been the top defensive player remaining on the board for the Bills, which is understandable.  I don’t think he’s more of an impact player than Michael Floyd though.  The Bills will need to perform on defense this upcoming season because their offense didn’t get the shot in the arm it needed this offseason.

But on the defensive side of the ball — yes I have some issues with the design of Mario Williams and now Stephon Gilmore — and yes this is an admission of some failure on the part of recent CB picks by Buddy Nix (such as Aaron Williams), but the important thing is that the ball is now in Wannestedt’s court to produce a defense that can shut down Tom Brady and the Pats.
