Draft Reaction: Buccaneers selects S Mark Barron

The Buccaneers will make Alabama CB/S Mark Barron the highest picked non-chalk player in the 2012 NFL Draft, but the one question we have to ask is whether a fourth round pick was enough compensation to justify sliding out of a spot where they could get one of the premier corners.  The Bucs answered that question emphatically when they decided to pass on the opportunity to pick Mark Barron, the top DB remaining on their board, and a guy that will reportedly play some corner at the pro level.

Mark Barron littered the middle ten picks in the first round of the mock draft class.  It is not at all shocking that he was a top 8 pick in this draft.  He can be an impact player in the NFC South, a division that is quarterback laden, and it’s about time that the Bucs defense adds a franchise performer to join the talent they put on the defensive line last year.
